One of Ontario’s Female Led Tech Companies Invited to Present at the “She Loves Tech” Initiative (Montreal, August 2, 2017)
Global Initiative Spotlights the World’s Most Promising Women Entrepreneurs and Women Impact Startups
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TORONTO, ON—(July 24, 2017) — Deborah Emerson—Founder, President, and CEO of Homecare Intelligence Canada Inc. (HCI)—was selected to present her company’s platform at the “She Loves Tech” global initiative which showcases the convergence of the latest trends in technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation, and the opportunities created for women. This initiative is designed to give the world’s most promising women entrepreneurs and women impact startups a unique opportunity to showcase their businesses to a global audience of investors and influencers from the tech community. Organized in cooperation with Reify, “She Loves Tech Canada 2017” is the Canadian round of the competition—to be held on August 2, 2017, at the John Molson School of Business in Montreal.
Emerson said she is excited by the opportunity to spotlight female-led tech ventures, especially ones aimed at improving our broader health system. Her hope is to participate on a yet more global scale, if selected to attend the next event in Beijing, China on September 16, 2017.
“Knowing that we are improving the lives of our home health workforce (nurses, personal support workers, and therapists), which is approximately 95% female, is very rewarding,” Emerson said. She explained that, for far too long, many home care workers have experienced disparate compensation and work burdens compared to their institutionally-employed counterparts. Travel costs, travel time, and sometimes less desirable compensation models have impacted these valued and important care providers. The very success of our health system depends on this workforce.
A clinician herself for more than 25 years, Emerson has been at the forefront of health care technology for nearly 12 years. A serial entrepreneur whose first home health tech company’s virtual and remote care platform is now a “best practice” in Ontario, she is once again addressing the economics of healthcare system sustainability. This time she sees an opportunity to make an even greater impact by working with high level system players to re-shape the way we think about providing home care, in order to provide more and better care far more efficiently while supporting our valued clinicians.
